Today, February 18th, in 1930, Clyde Tombaugh working at the Lowell Observatory made the discovery of Pluto while examining two photographic plates takes just a few weeks before using a blink comparator. To celebrate this discovery, AstroBox has made a donation of $110 to the Lowell Observatory – $1 for each Pluto AstroBox and Pluto Globe sold!
In addition to being home to two very historic telescopes, Lowell Observatory provides extensive public education and astronomy outreach to their visitors. AstroBox is proud to help support their education and historic preservation activities. If you would like to make your own contribution, please visit the Lowell Observatory donation page and add to our total!
